Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me! My name is Katie Smith and I am the owner/therapist of Syndesi, LLC. Syndesi means “connection” in Greek and I believe that children do better overall when they have strong connections to their families. These connections make families stronger and this makes their communities stronger. Long story short- we all do better with stronger children, families and communities!
Connections, like relationships, are tested during tough times and this is when therapy can help. I am a licensed clinical social worker and I have fifteen years of experience providing therapy for children and families. I use a combination of play therapy, relationship building, and skill development. This helps to build, repair, and strengthen your family’s connections.
I specialize in working with children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, or trauma. I help many families who are going through divorce, loss or major changes. I am certified in cognitive behavioral therapy for Mental Health and CPP (Child Parent Psychotherapy). I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). All are evidenced based practices and are especially helpful for children.
Children change a lot as they grow and they also often struggle during times of change, stress or loss. Getting them help early in life leads to the best possible outcomes. We will work together to keep them on their best path forward.
I offer after school and evening appointments to fit into your family’s busy schedule. To learn more, please read about the services I offer. If you’re ready to get started, contact me today. I look forward to talking to you.
