Child Parent Psychotherapy (or CPP for short) is a wonderful, evidenced based practice that was designed to help a child under six and their caregiver to heal from trauma. This intervention includes play therapy and relationship building models that help the child return to the feelings of physical and emotional safety that existed prior to the trauma occurring.
If your child or family has experienced major issues such as violence, abuse, neglect, parental separation, major hospitalization/accidents, or loss this therapy may be able to help. When a family experiences the pain and stress of a traumatic event, each family member needs to heal and children can take longer to recover. Therapy responds to the needs of the family and child to move forward and become stronger.
